The Film Festival Radar - Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 9 August 2026 These Terms & Conditions apply to your access to and use of Film Festival Radar, including the website at www.filmfestivalradar.com, any temporary testing domains, subdomains, applications, dashboards, pages, databases, tools, paid products, verification services, review systems, reports and related services operated by us. Film Festival Radar is a service operated by MiraBan Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 11135660, with registered office at 20-22 Wenlock Road, London, England, N1 7GU. You can contact us at: hello@filmfestivalradar.com. By accessing the Service, creating an account, using Trust Check, using Festival Advisor, using Festival Match, buying credits, purchasing a subscription, submitting a film through Native Submissions, receiving Native Submissions, submitting or claiming a festival profile, applying for verification, leaving a review, rating a festival, or otherwise using Film Festival Radar, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Service.

1. What Film Festival Radar is

Film Festival Radar is a filmmaker-first trust, discovery and comparison platform created to help users identify, compare and assess film festivals around the world. Our purpose is to support a more transparent festival ecosystem by helping filmmakers understand which festivals appear more trustworthy, established, responsive, relevant or suitable based on available information. The Service may include:

  • festival search and comparison tools;
  • festival profiles;
  • submission links;
  • deadline and fee information;
  • accreditation, qualification or recognition indicators;
  • venue and award information;
  • filmmaker reviews and ratings;
  • Trust Check;
  • Festival Advisor;
  • Festival Match or Filmmaker Match;
  • festival organiser dashboards;
  • filmmaker dashboards;
  • paid credits and subscriptions;
  • verification applications;
  • downloadable reports;
  • advisory notes, badges and trust-support indicators. Film Festival Radar is designed to support user judgment. It is not a regulator, accreditation body, awards body, legal adviser, financial adviser, distributor or consumer ombudsman. Where Native Submissions are enabled for a participating festival, Film Festival Radar also provides film-submission and payment-facilitation technology as described in the Native Submission section of these Terms. We aim to help users identify trustworthy festivals, but we cannot guarantee that any festival will remain trustworthy, active, fair, accurate, responsive, solvent, ethical, accredited, legally compliant or operationally unchanged after it has been listed, reviewed, rated, verified, matched or assessed.

2. Important service disclaimer

Film Festival Radar provides trust-support, information, comparison and advisory tools. Users should review final festival details, eligibility requirements and applicable rules before submitting a film, paying a fee, making travel plans, entering a contract or making a professional decision. Where a submission is made through a third-party submission platform, users should also review that provider's applicable terms. Where a submission is made through Film Festival Radar Native Submissions, the Native Submission section of these Terms applies. We do not control festivals listed, reviewed, rated, matched or discussed on the Service unless expressly stated otherwise. Except for obligations expressly assumed by Film Festival Radar under these Terms or obligations that cannot legally be excluded, independently operated festivals remain responsible for their own actions, omissions, representations, communications, event operations, screenings, awards, certificates, laurels, trophies, selections, rejections and treatment of filmmakers. Additional provisions concerning Native Submission payments, disputes and refunds are contained in the Native Submission section of these Terms.

3. Definitions

In these Terms: “Film Festival Radar”, “we”, “us” or “our” means the Film Festival Radar service operated by MiraBan Ltd. “Service” means the Film Festival Radar website, app, platform, tools, dashboards, festival directory, reviews, ratings, Trust Check, Festival Advisor, Festival Match, Native Submissions, payment-facilitation features, verification services, credits, subscriptions, reports and related services. “User”, “you” or “your” means any person or organisation using the Service. “Filmmaker User” means a user who uses the Service to discover, compare, review, assess or receive guidance about film festivals, create or manage film profiles, or submit films through Native Submissions. “Festival Organiser” means a user who represents, operates, manages, claims, edits, verifies, submits information about, or receives Native Submissions for a film festival. “Native Submission” or “Native Submissions” means a film submission made directly to a participating festival through Film Festival Radar rather than through an external submission platform. “Festival” means any film festival, event, award, screening programme, competition, submission call, film platform, festival-related organisation or similar body listed, reviewed, assessed, claimed, compared, matched or discussed on the Service. “Festival Profile” means a listing, record or page relating to a festival. “Trust Check” means any feature, page, report, score, badge, advisory note, comparison, signal or assessment intended to help users evaluate festival trustworthiness. “Festival Advisor” means any informational guidance tool, including any AI-assisted or automated tool, that provides suggestions, comments, summaries or advisory responses. “Festival Match” means any tool that helps match filmmakers, films, projects or profiles with festivals using available criteria, AI-assisted analysis, user-submitted information, public festival information or platform signals. “Verification” means our limited process for reviewing selected evidence about a festival or organiser. “Verified Badge”, “Verified Festival” or “Verified Organiser” means that a festival or organiser has passed the specific verification checks we applied at the time of review. It does not mean accreditation, endorsement, guarantee, approval, recommendation or legal certification. “Credits” means digital units that may be purchased or allocated to access certain paid features. “User Content” means any content submitted, uploaded, posted, provided or generated by users, including reviews, ratings, comments, festival information, film information, profile details, logos, images, evidence, documents, advisor prompts, advisor outputs, messages, complaints and reports.

4. No guarantee of festival conduct or future operations

We may use available information, public sources, organiser evidence, filmmaker feedback, reviews, ratings, verification checks, trust indicators, AI-assisted analysis, manual review and platform analysis to help users identify festivals that appear more trustworthy or suitable. However, we cannot guarantee that any festival will continue operating in the same way after it is listed, reviewed, rated, verified, matched or assessed. A festival may change:

  • ownership;
  • management;
  • staff;
  • selection practices;
  • judging practices;
  • communication quality;
  • venue;
  • screening format;
  • event date;
  • deadline;
  • entry fee;
  • submission platform;
  • refund policy;
  • terms and conditions;
  • prizes;
  • trophies;
  • certificates;
  • laurels;
  • award rules;
  • accreditation or qualification status;
  • public reputation;
  • legal compliance;
  • response times;
  • filmmaker treatment;
  • operational model;
  • data practices;
  • financial position. We do not undertake to monitor every listed festival continuously or in real time. A festival may remain listed after information has changed unless and until we become aware of the change, review it and update the relevant profile. We are not liable for any festival’s future conduct, operational changes, omissions, cancellations, misrepresentations, unpaid prizes, lack of response, event cancellation, rejected submissions, screening failures, venue changes, refund refusals or treatment of filmmakers.

5. No guarantee of accuracy

We use reasonable efforts to provide useful festival information, but we do not guarantee that all information is complete, current, accurate or error-free. Festival data may come from:

  • public websites;
  • submission platforms;
  • festival organisers;
  • filmmakers;
  • reviewers;
  • third-party sources;
  • public directories;
  • manual research;
  • automated tools;
  • AI-assisted tools;
  • internal analysis;
  • user submissions. Information may become outdated, incomplete or disputed. We may update, remove, correct, annotate, moderate or replace information where we reasonably consider it necessary or appropriate. You remain responsible for checking official festival rules and details before relying on them.

6. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use paid features, create an account, buy credits, purchase a subscription, submit a festival claim, apply for verification, leave a review, submit festival information or use Festival Advisor. If you use the Service on behalf of a company, festival, organisation, school, charity, distributor, agency, production company or other entity, you confirm that you have authority to act on behalf of that entity and bind it to these Terms.

7. Accounts

You are responsible for:

  • providing accurate account information;
  • keeping your login details secure;
  • keeping your email address up to date;
  • choosing the correct account type;
  • all activity carried out through your account;
  • notifying us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access. We may suspend, restrict, downgrade or terminate accounts where we reasonably suspect fraud, impersonation, false festival claims, fake reviews, review manipulation, scraping, spam, payment abuse, chargeback abuse, harassment, threats, unlawful activity, breach of these Terms, or risk to users, festivals, the platform or public trust.

8. Filmmaker users

Filmmaker Users may use the Service to search, compare, assess, review and receive guidance about festivals. Depending on the account type, plan, subscription or credit balance, filmmaker features may include festival discovery, festival comparison, Trust Check, Festival Advisor, Festival Match, film profile creation, review and rating tools, credit purchases, downloadable match reports, account dashboards and paid or premium features. Some features may be free, paid, subscription-based, credit-based, experimental, limited, temporary, beta or coming soon. We do not guarantee that using the Service will result in festival selection, awards, responses, refunds, exposure, distribution, representation, sales, career opportunities or any particular professional result.

9. Festival organiser users

Festival Organisers may be able to claim, create, edit, manage or verify Festival Profiles. A Festival Organiser must provide accurate and up-to-date information and must not mislead filmmakers or the platform. Festival Organisers must not:

  • impersonate a festival they do not represent;
  • falsely claim affiliation with a festival;
  • submit false or misleading festival information;
  • falsely claim accreditation, qualification status, venue partnerships, prizes or awards;
  • create fake filmmaker accounts;
  • submit fake reviews;
  • manipulate ratings;
  • retaliate against reviewers;
  • pressure filmmakers to remove honest reviews;
  • threaten users through the platform;
  • hide material festival information;
  • use the platform to harass, intimidate or expose users;
  • scrape, copy or misuse platform data;
  • use verification as proof of endorsement beyond its stated meaning. We may require evidence before allowing a festival claim, profile edit or verification. Submitting a Festival Profile, claim or edit does not guarantee approval or publication.

10. Festival profile approval and removal

We may approve, reject, edit, moderate, hide, suspend, annotate or remove any Festival Profile where we reasonably consider it necessary to protect users, correct inaccurate information, manage legal risk, preserve platform integrity, prevent abuse, investigate complaints, comply with law or maintain trust in the Service. We may do this where:

  • the festival information is inaccurate, incomplete or outdated;
  • the organiser has not provided enough evidence;
  • the festival appears inactive;
  • the festival appears misleading;
  • there is a trust, safety, legal or reputational concern;
  • the festival has received credible complaints;
  • the organiser has breached these Terms;
  • the festival has changed operations;
  • there is a dispute about ownership or affiliation;
  • the profile duplicates another listing;
  • publication would create risk to users or the platform. Except where expressly stated in a paid plan, no festival, organiser or user has a right to be listed, ranked, verified, promoted, displayed or kept on the Service. Paid services do not guarantee favourable ranking, verification approval, positive reviews, removal of criticism or continued publication where legal, trust, safety, moderation or platform-integrity concerns arise. Removal, editing or moderation of a Festival Profile is not an admission that the original information was unlawful, inaccurate or defamatory.

11. Verification badge

Verification is a limited evidence-review process intended to improve transparency and trust. Verification may include reviewing evidence such as:

  • festival identity;
  • organiser affiliation;
  • official website or submission-platform presence;
  • venue information;
  • public screening information;
  • previous editions;
  • public contact details;
  • award, certificate, trophy or laurel information;
  • accreditation or qualification evidence;
  • public reputation signals;
  • other materials we reasonably request. A verification badge means only that the festival or organiser passed the specific checks we applied at the time of review. A verification badge does not mean that:
  • the festival is officially accredited;
  • the festival is endorsed by us;
  • the festival is guaranteed legitimate;
  • the festival is guaranteed trustworthy forever;
  • the festival is guaranteed to screen films;
  • the festival is guaranteed to select films fairly;
  • the festival is guaranteed to provide trophies, certificates, laurels, prizes, feedback or refunds;
  • the festival is legally compliant in every jurisdiction;
  • the festival is financially stable;
  • the festival’s future operations will remain the same;
  • the festival is better than an unverified festival;
  • the festival has been approved by a government, academy, broadcaster, awards body, regulator or official body. We may approve, reject, suspend or revoke verification where we reasonably consider it necessary, including where new information arises, evidence becomes outdated, the festival changes operations, complaints are received, the organiser breaches these Terms, or continued verification could mislead users. Payment for verification covers the review and administration of the verification process. It does not guarantee approval.

12. Reviews and ratings

Users may be able to submit reviews, ratings, scores, comments or other feedback about festivals. Reviews and ratings are intended to support transparency and filmmaker decision-making. They may reflect personal experience, opinion, perception, available evidence or user judgment. You must ensure that any review or rating you submit is honest, lawful, relevant and based on genuine experience or reasonable belief. Reviews should describe facts, experiences and opinions fairly. Users should avoid making serious allegations of fraud, criminality or illegality unless they have evidence and are prepared to provide it if requested. You must not submit reviews or ratings that are fake, purchased, manipulated, retaliatory, defamatory, malicious, knowingly false, misleading, abusive, discriminatory, harassing, spam, promotional, irrelevant, generated by a competitor in bad faith, submitted by a festival organiser pretending to be a filmmaker, or submitted in exchange for money, discounts, waivers, selection, trophies, laurels or other benefits unless clearly disclosed. We may moderate, hide, remove, edit, annotate, investigate or refuse reviews and ratings where we reasonably consider this necessary to protect users, comply with law, preserve platform integrity, prevent abuse, correct inaccuracies, investigate complaints or manage legal risk. We are not required to remove a review simply because it is negative, critical or disliked by a festival. Reviews, ratings, festival complaints, right-of-reply requests, moderation decisions and evidence records may also be handled in accordance with our Review, Moderation & Platform Integrity Policy.

13. User Content is not our endorsement

User Content is created by users, not by Film Festival Radar. We do not endorse, guarantee or adopt User Content merely because it appears on the Service. User Content may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, subjective, disputed or offensive. We may take steps to moderate User Content, but we are not required to monitor all User Content before publication. Where we remove, edit, hide, investigate or moderate User Content, this does not mean we accept liability for it or agree that it was unlawful.

14. Our own editorial content and trust notes

Film Festival Radar may publish or display our own editorial content, trust notes, platform-generated summaries, badges, ranking indicators, warnings, explanations, comparison labels, verification decisions or advisory comments. These materials are based on information available to us at the relevant time, including public information, user submissions, reviews, organiser evidence, third-party sources, automated analysis, AI-assisted analysis and our own judgment. Our platform assessments are intended to help users evaluate risk and trust. They should not be read as allegations of criminal conduct, regulatory findings, court findings or definitive legal conclusions unless expressly stated. We may amend, update, remove, annotate or correct editorial content or trust notes at any time. A festival’s disagreement with our assessment does not automatically make the assessment unlawful, inaccurate, malicious or defamatory.

15. Trust Check

Trust Check is an informational tool intended to help users evaluate festivals using available trust signals. Trust Check may consider public festival information, user reviews, festival profile completeness, verification status, submission links, fees, deadlines, awards, accreditation indicators, venue information, advisory notes, complaints or dispute signals, AI-assisted analysis and other platform data. Trust Check reflects available signals at the time it is generated or viewed. It may not reflect later changes to festival operations, new complaints, corrected data or developments outside the platform. Trust Check does not guarantee that a festival is legitimate, safe, fair, active, accredited, solvent, ethical or suitable. Trust Check is not a legal judgment, regulator decision, official warning, government notice, accreditation decision or professional recommendation.

16. Festival Advisor

Festival Advisor may provide informational guidance, including AI-assisted responses, summaries, strategy suggestions or festival-related comments. Festival Advisor is not legal advice, financial advice, tax advice, professional representation, therapy, business advice, investment advice or guaranteed festival strategy. Festival Advisor outputs may be incomplete, outdated, inaccurate or unsuitable for your circumstances. Users must not rely on Festival Advisor as the sole basis for paying submission fees, making legal decisions, entering contracts, making financial commitments or making travel arrangements. Festival Advisor may cost credits per conversation, question, report or use. The relevant cost should be displayed in the app. If a Festival Advisor conversation begins, credits may be deducted even if you disagree with the output, unless there has been a technical error or the law requires otherwise.

17. Festival Match and Filmmaker Match

Festival Match or Filmmaker Match may use available information to suggest possible alignment between filmmakers, projects and festivals. Matching may use a combination of AI-assisted analysis, manual research, public festival information, festival-submitted information, user-submitted film/profile information, platform data, trust signals, genre, country, category, project type, theme, language, runtime, budget range, festival focus, submission criteria, public profile choices and other non-sensitive matching indicators. AI may help analyse and organise matching signals, but matches are not based only on AI and should not be treated as automated decisions with guaranteed outcomes. Match results are indicative only. A match does not guarantee selection, invitation, response, contact, suitability, legitimacy, festival quality, festival availability, screening, acceptance, commercial success or career opportunity. If a filmmaker chooses to keep a profile private, we will not intentionally make private profile data available to festivals unless the user changes settings or consents.

18. Festival complaints, disputes and right of reply

We provide a process for festivals and organisers to report inaccurate, misleading, unlawful, abusive or disputed content. If you are a festival or organiser and wish to complain about content, you must contact us at hello@filmfestivalradar.com and provide:

  • your full name;
  • your role and authority to act for the festival;
  • the festival name;
  • the exact URL or location of the content;
  • the exact words, rating, statement, profile detail or material you dispute;
  • why you believe it is false, misleading, unlawful, defamatory, outdated or unfair;
  • evidence supporting your position;
  • the specific action you request;
  • your contact details;
  • confirmation that the information you provide is accurate. Where a complaint concerns user-generated content, we may follow the website-operator complaint process under applicable defamation law. We may request further information from the complainant, contact the user who posted the content where appropriate, temporarily hide content, remove content, annotate content, or keep content live depending on the circumstances and legal requirements. We are not required to remove content merely because a festival disagrees with it, dislikes it, considers it commercially inconvenient, or believes it may affect reputation. We may decline to engage with abusive, threatening, repetitive, bad-faith or unsupported complaints. A festival must not use legal threats, harassment, intimidation, retaliation, false reports or pressure tactics to silence genuine filmmaker feedback.

19. No retaliation against reviewers

Festival Organisers must not retaliate against users for leaving honest reviews, ratings, complaints or feedback. Retaliation includes threatening legal action without proper basis, contacting users aggressively, exposing private user information, blacklisting users because of honest feedback, pressuring users to remove reviews, offering benefits in exchange for removing criticism, using fake accounts to attack reviewers, or attempting to identify anonymous or pseudonymous users without lawful basis. We may suspend or remove Festival Organiser access where we believe retaliation has occurred.

20. Online safety and illegal content

Users must not submit content that is unlawful, threatening, abusive, harassing, hateful, fraudulent, defamatory, discriminatory, sexually exploitative, terrorist-related, encouraging self-harm, promoting violence, infringing privacy, infringing intellectual property rights, or otherwise illegal. Users may report suspected illegal, harmful or abusive content by contacting hello@filmfestivalradar.com and identifying the content, URL, reason for complaint and any supporting evidence. We may remove, restrict, hide, annotate, investigate, preserve, report or disable access to content or accounts where we believe this is necessary to comply with law, protect users, prevent abuse, reduce illegal-content risk, or protect platform integrity. We may keep records of moderation decisions, complaints and risk assessments for legal, safety, compliance and audit purposes.

21. Paid services, subscriptions and credits

Some features are free. Others may require a paid subscription, one-off payment, verification fee or credits. Paid features may include subscription plans, credits, Festival Advisor conversations, Trust Check features, Festival Match reports, verification applications, premium dashboards, festival organiser tools, downloadable reports and advanced comparison tools. Prices, features, plan limits, renewal terms, credit allocations and payment terms should be displayed before purchase. Prices shown at checkout will include mandatory charges where required by law. Any recurring charges, renewal terms, taxes, billing frequency and material limits will be displayed before purchase. Credits have no cash value. They cannot be exchanged for money, transferred, resold or used outside the Service unless we expressly allow it. Credits may expire, be plan-limited, feature-limited or account-limited where this is stated at or before purchase.

22. Failed payments and incorrect credit allocation

If your payment succeeds but your account is not upgraded, credits are not applied, or a paid feature does not activate, contact us at hello@filmfestivalradar.com with the account email and transaction details. Where our system error caused the issue, we will take reasonable steps to correct the entitlement, manually apply the credits or subscription, or provide an appropriate refund. We are not responsible for delays caused by incorrect account details, payment-provider errors, bank issues, third-party outages or user error, but we will use reasonable efforts to help resolve genuine problems.

23. Payments

Payments may be processed by third-party payment providers such as Stripe. We do not intentionally store full payment card details on our own systems. You must provide accurate payment and billing information. You authorise us, the applicable participating festival where relevant, and our authorised payment providers to process or charge the relevant price, taxes, submission fees, subscription fees, renewal fees, credit purchases, verification fees or other charges clearly shown at checkout. If a recurring payment fails, we may suspend, downgrade or restrict access until payment is completed.

24. Renewals, cancellations and refunds

Subscription renewal terms should be displayed before purchase. You may cancel a subscription through the account area, billing portal or by contacting us where no self-service cancellation option is available. Cancellation normally stops future renewals. It does not automatically refund previous payments unless required by law or expressly agreed by us. If you are a consumer, you may have statutory cancellation rights under applicable consumer law. Where you purchase immediate access to digital content or services, including credits, reports, advisor conversations, match reports or subscription access, statutory cancellation rights depend on the nature of the purchase and applicable law. For services, a cancellation right is not treated as lost merely because performance has begun. Where legally required, we will obtain an express request for immediate performance and any acknowledgement or consent required before relying on a limitation or loss of statutory cancellation rights. Subject to your statutory rights, refunds will not normally be available once credits have been used, a report has been generated, a Festival Advisor conversation has started, a verification review has begun, or digital services have been supplied following your request for immediate access. Nothing in these Terms affects statutory consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.

25. Verification fees

A verification fee covers the review and administration of a verification application. Payment does not guarantee approval. We may reject verification where evidence is insufficient, unclear, outdated, misleading, inconsistent, unverifiable or raises trust concerns. Subject to your statutory rights, verification fees will not normally be refundable once the review process has begun, unless we decide otherwise.

26. Beta, work-in-progress and experimental features

The Service may include beta, experimental, coming soon, test or work-in-progress features. These features may be incomplete, inaccurate, unstable, unavailable, limited, changed, delayed or removed. We may change or remove beta features without notice. No beta or coming-soon feature should be relied on as a guaranteed part of a paid plan unless expressly stated at checkout.

27. Acceptable use

You must not use the Service to break the law, mislead users, impersonate a person, festival or organisation, submit fake festival information, submit fake reviews, manipulate ratings or trust scores, harass or threaten users, retaliate against reviewers, upload malware, scrape or harvest platform data, reverse engineer the platform, overload or disrupt the Service, bypass payment systems, exploit bugs, resell credits or accounts, violate privacy rights, infringe intellectual property rights, post defamatory, hateful, discriminatory or abusive content, or use the Service for unlawful surveillance, spam or fraud. We may investigate and take action where misuse is suspected.

28. Intellectual property

We own or license the Film Festival Radar brand, platform, software, database structure, design, copy, scoring logic, trust indicators, reports, layouts, visual assets, selection logic and related intellectual property. You must not copy, scrape, reproduce, republish, resell, redistribute, reverse engineer or commercially exploit the Service, database, ratings, trust indicators, reports or platform content without our permission. You retain ownership of your own User Content, but you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, publish, display, moderate, edit, analyse, distribute, adapt and use that User Content as necessary to operate, improve, protect and promote the Service. Where you upload logos, images, documents, evidence, film information or festival materials, you confirm that you have the right to do so.

29. Publicity and use of festival names

Where a festival is publicly operating, publicly inviting submissions, publicly advertising itself, or publicly listed on third-party submission platforms or websites, we may refer to the festival by name for identification, commentary, comparison, review, indexing, trust-check, correction, reporting, public-interest or platform purposes. Listing or mentioning a festival does not imply partnership, sponsorship, endorsement or affiliation unless expressly stated. If a festival believes its name, logo or information is used inaccurately, it should use the complaint and correction procedure in these Terms.

The Service may link to or interact with third-party websites and services, including festival websites, submission platforms, payment processors, AI providers, analytics providers, email services, hosting providers, accreditation bodies, social media platforms and external directories. We do not control third-party services and are not responsible for their content, fees, refunds, data practices, availability, terms, accuracy or operational changes. You should review third-party terms and privacy policies before using them.

31. Platform moderation and editorial discretion

We may exercise editorial, moderation and platform-integrity discretion. This includes the right to decide what festivals appear on the Service, how festivals are categorised, whether a festival is verified, whether a profile should be published, how reviews are displayed, whether content breaches these Terms, whether to add trust notes or advisory warnings, whether to correct factual errors, whether to remove harmful or misleading information, and how to protect reviewers, users and platform integrity. No festival, organiser or user has a right to a particular listing, ranking, score, badge, review position, search visibility, verification status or presentation.

32. Ranking, ratings and methodology changes

Trust indicators, ratings, badges, advisory notes and rankings may be based on a combination of public information, user reviews, review volume, review recency, profile completeness, verification evidence, organiser responses, complaints, moderation history, festival-submitted information, third-party data, AI-assisted analysis and internal trust signals. We do not guarantee that every trust indicator reflects a complete investigation of the festival. We may change how ratings, rankings, trust indicators, review summaries, badges, advisory notes, match results or search results are calculated or displayed. We are not required to disclose proprietary scoring logic, anti-fraud methods, moderation rules, internal risk signals or ranking algorithms. No festival is entitled to compensation because of ranking, rating, badge, visibility, verification, search placement or methodology changes.

33. Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not guarantee that the Service will always be available, error-free, current, complete or suitable for your specific needs. We do not guarantee that all festivals listed are trustworthy, that verified festivals will remain trustworthy, that festivals will not change operations, that reviews will be reliable, that AI outputs will be correct, that third-party links will work, or that users will achieve any festival outcome. We may correct errors and update information, but we are not liable merely because information later becomes outdated, disputed or superseded.

34. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or statutory rights that cannot legally be excluded. Subject to the above, we are not liable for festival submission fees paid through independent third-party submission platforms, festival rejections, festival non-responses, festival cancellations, festival operational changes, lost opportunities, lost profits, loss of reputation, loss of goodwill, indirect or consequential loss, decisions made based on the Service, inaccurate or outdated festival information, user reviews or ratings, third-party websites, AI-generated outputs, match results, Trust Check results, verification decisions, festival disputes, or claims made by or against festivals. Where you are a consumer, these limitations apply only to the extent permitted by law. Where you use the Service as a business, festival, organiser, company or professional user, our total liability to you for all claims arising in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that same 12-month period.

35. Indemnity for business users and festival organisers

If you use the Service as a business, company, festival, organiser, school, charity, agency, distributor, production company or professional user, you agree to indemnify us against claims, losses, damages, costs and expenses arising from your breach of these Terms, false or misleading information you provide, unauthorised use of festival names, logos or materials, fake or manipulated reviews, unlawful User Content, infringement of intellectual property rights, privacy breaches caused by you, impersonation, harassment or retaliation, payment abuse, misuse of the Service, or legal claims made because of information you submitted. This clause does not apply to consumers where it would be unfair or unlawful.

36. Suspension and termination

We may suspend, restrict, downgrade, remove or terminate access to the Service where you breach these Terms, payment fails, fraud is suspected, legal risk arises, platform security is at risk, user trust is at risk, you misuse reviews or ratings, you submit false festival information, you threaten or harass users, you misuse verification, you abuse complaints or takedown processes, we are required to do so by law, or continued access would create operational, legal, reputational or safety risk. You may stop using the Service at any time. Termination does not affect rights or obligations that arose before termination.

37. Privacy

Our use of personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy. You must not submit personal information about another person unless you have a lawful basis and authority to do so. You must not use reviews, complaints, festival replies or platform tools to expose private personal data about another person.

38. Cookies

The Service may use cookies or similar technologies. Where required, non-essential cookies should only be used with consent. More information should be provided in our Cookie Policy or cookie banner.

39. Changes to the Service

We may update, change, suspend, discontinue or replace any part of the Service. Where a change materially affects a paid feature during a paid period, we will act reasonably and may offer an alternative, credit, extension or refund where legally required or appropriate.

40. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify users, such as by email, account notice, checkout notice or website notice. The updated Terms apply from the date shown at the top of the page. If you continue using the Service after the updated Terms take effect, you accept the updated Terms.

41. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you may also have rights under the mandatory laws of the country where you live. The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, except where consumer law gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.

Digital Services, Immediate Access and Cancellation Rights

  1. Immediate Digital Access: Some Film Festival Radar digital services, including credits, Festival Match reports, Festival Advisor conversations, subscriptions, verification features, downloadable reports and platform tools ("Digital Services"), may become available immediately after purchase.

  2. Request for Immediate Performance: Where applicable, by expressly requesting that a paid service begins during any statutory cancellation period, you request that we begin providing that service immediately.

  3. Consumer Cancellation Rights: Your statutory cancellation rights depend on the nature of the product or service purchased and applicable law. For services, cancellation rights are not treated as lost merely because performance has begun. Where applicable law allows cancellation during a cancellation period after performance has started at your express request, you may be required to pay an appropriate amount for services already supplied. A right to cancel a service may cease once the service has been fully performed where the legal requirements for doing so have been satisfied.

  4. Digital Content: Where a purchase constitutes digital content not supplied on a tangible medium, we will obtain any express consent and acknowledgement required by applicable law before relying on the loss of a statutory cancellation right following commencement of supply.

  5. Faulty, Misdescribed or Unavailable Services: Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded. If a paid service is faulty, materially misdescribed, unavailable or not provided as agreed, you may have rights to a refund, repeat performance, price reduction or other remedy under applicable law.

  6. Refunds: Any refund rules stated elsewhere in these Terms apply subject always to statutory rights and applicable consumer law. A statement that a payment is normally non-refundable does not exclude a refund where one is required by law.

  7. Contact: If you believe a paid Film Festival Radar service has not been delivered as described, contact hello@filmfestivalradar.com.

Prohibition on Web Scraping and Automated Data Extraction

  1. Prohibition: You may not use bots, crawlers, spiders, scrapers, automated tools, scripts, or any automated or manual system to access, scrape, copy, extract, bulk-download, harvest, reproduce, or reuse data from the Film Festival Radar platform without our prior written permission.

  2. Scope of Protected Data: This prohibition covers, but is not limited to: festival directory data, ratings, trust scores, filmmaker reviews, advisory notes, submission links, native submission data, deadlines, fees, accreditation information, awards data, organiser verification data, and information displayed inside filmmaker, festival organiser or administration dashboards.

  3. Permitted Access Only Through Intended Use: You may access and use the platform only through normal and intended use of the website or application. You may not use automated systems to extract, replicate, mirror or recreate the Film Festival Radar database or substantial parts of it.

  4. Account Suspension and Termination: Film Festival Radar reserves the right to suspend, restrict or terminate any account that attempts unauthorised scraping, data extraction, reverse engineering, database replication or similar activity.

  5. No Effect on Authorised Workflows: This prohibition applies to users and third parties. It does not affect authorised administration imports, internal syncing, authorised API integrations or legitimate directory-maintenance workflows conducted or approved by Film Festival Radar.

Film Festival Radar Native Film Submissions

1. Scope

Film Festival Radar may allow selected participating festivals to receive film submissions directly through Film Festival Radar ("Native Submissions").

These Native Submission Terms apply whenever a filmmaker submits a film directly to a participating festival through Film Festival Radar.

Where these Native Submission Terms conflict with another provision of these Terms specifically in relation to a Native Submission, this section takes precedence to the extent of that conflict.

Availability of Native Submissions may vary between festivals. A festival appearing in the Film Festival Radar directory is not automatically enabled to receive Native Submissions.

2. Role of Film Festival Radar

Film Festival Radar provides technology and administrative infrastructure through which filmmakers and participating festivals can manage film submissions.

Film Festival Radar may also facilitate payments through Stripe, including Stripe Connect, or another authorised payment provider.

Except where expressly stated otherwise, Film Festival Radar is not the organiser, producer, programmer, jury, selector, screening venue or promoter of an independently operated participating festival.

Each participating festival remains independently responsible for its own:

  • event;
  • programme;
  • selection decisions;
  • eligibility rules;
  • judging;
  • awards;
  • screenings;
  • event dates;
  • venues;
  • communications;
  • representations made to filmmakers; and
  • compliance with applicable law.

Film Festival Radar does not guarantee selection, nomination, screening, awards, feedback or any other festival outcome.

3. Festival information and eligibility

Participating festivals are responsible for keeping their submission information accurate, current and not misleading.

This includes:

  • submission opening and closing dates;
  • festival edition;
  • categories;
  • eligibility requirements;
  • submission fees;
  • deadlines;
  • event dates;
  • awards and prizes;
  • premiere requirements;
  • screening requirements;
  • refund policies;
  • submission questions; and
  • festival-specific rules.

Filmmakers are responsible for reviewing the applicable festival rules and determining whether their film is eligible before submitting.

Film Festival Radar may structure, display, review or moderate festival information but does not guarantee that a particular film meets a festival's eligibility requirements.

4. Submission information

A Native Submission may include:

  • film title;
  • filmmaker details;
  • production details;
  • director details;
  • country;
  • completion year;
  • runtime;
  • genre;
  • synopsis;
  • credits;
  • submission category;
  • application answers;
  • poster or artwork;
  • trailer;
  • screener URL;
  • screener password; and
  • other information reasonably required for the submission.

By submitting a film, the filmmaker confirms that the information supplied is accurate to the best of their knowledge and that they have authority to submit the film.

Film Festival Radar may preserve a snapshot of relevant film and application information as it existed when the application was submitted.

Changes subsequently made to the filmmaker's Film Festival Radar film profile do not necessarily alter the historical submission record.

5. Submitted films, screeners and intellectual property

Copyright and ownership of a submitted film remain with the applicable filmmaker, producer or other rights holder.

Submission through Film Festival Radar does not transfer ownership of the film to Film Festival Radar or the participating festival.

By providing a screener URL, password, trailer, still, poster or other submission material, the filmmaker grants Film Festival Radar and the participating festival a limited, non-exclusive right to access and use those materials only as reasonably necessary to administer and evaluate the submission.

Participating festivals must protect confidential screener information and restrict access to persons reasonably involved in the submission, programming, judging or selection process.

Unless expressly authorised by the relevant rights holder, participating festivals must not download, copy, redistribute, publicly exhibit or otherwise use a private submission screener outside the legitimate submission-review process.

6. Submission fees

Where a Native Submission requires payment, the applicable price will be displayed before payment is confirmed.

Submission fees may vary according to:

  • festival;
  • category;
  • submission deadline;
  • currency;
  • discount;
  • waiver; or
  • promotional arrangement.

Any mandatory charges payable by the filmmaker must be disclosed before checkout as required by applicable law.

The filmmaker is responsible for reviewing the final amount displayed before authorising payment.

7. Film Festival Radar platform fee

Unless a different commercial rate has expressly been agreed with a participating festival, Film Festival Radar charges the participating festival a standard platform fee equal to:

5% of each applicable paid submission fee.

The Film Festival Radar platform fee is calculated separately for each paid submission.

The 5% Film Festival Radar platform fee does not include Stripe or other third-party payment-processing fees.

Any VAT, sales tax or similar tax legally applicable to Film Festival Radar's platform fee will be handled as required by applicable law.

Film Festival Radar may agree different platform-fee rates with individual festivals or offer promotional rates.

Any applicable rate will be communicated before transactions to which that rate applies.

Film Festival Radar may change its standard platform fee for future transactions by providing reasonable notice. Changes will not retrospectively alter fees already applied to completed transactions.

8. Stripe and payment processing

Film Festival Radar may use Stripe, including Stripe Connect, or another appropriately authorised payment provider to process or facilitate Native Submission payments.

Participating festivals may be required to create or connect a payment-provider account and complete required identity, business, tax, banking or regulatory verification.

Payment processing may be subject to the payment provider's:

  • terms;
  • identity checks;
  • fraud controls;
  • payout requirements;
  • reserves;
  • settlement periods;
  • dispute procedures;
  • prohibited-business rules; and
  • account restrictions.

Film Festival Radar does not intentionally store complete payment-card details on its own systems.

Film Festival Radar does not guarantee that Stripe or another payment provider will approve or continue providing payment services to a particular festival or filmmaker.

9. Payment-processing fees

Stripe or another authorised payment provider may charge transaction, currency-conversion, dispute, payout or other payment-processing fees.

Unless expressly agreed otherwise, these charges are separate from Film Festival Radar's 5% platform fee and are borne by or deducted from the participating festival's submission proceeds.

Processing charges may vary according to:

  • payment method;
  • card type;
  • country;
  • currency;
  • currency conversion;
  • payment-provider pricing;
  • refunds;
  • disputes; and
  • chargebacks.

Film Festival Radar does not control third-party payment-provider pricing.

10. Festival net proceeds

The participating festival's net proceeds will generally represent eligible gross submission revenue less applicable:

  • Film Festival Radar platform fees;
  • Stripe or other payment-processing fees;
  • refunds;
  • payment reversals;
  • chargebacks;
  • dispute fees;
  • applicable taxes or withholding; and
  • other adjustments properly due under these Terms or the festival's applicable commercial agreement.

Film Festival Radar may provide transaction and payout reporting through the festival's account or dashboard.

11. Festival payout options

Participating festival organisers may select one of the payout options made available by Film Festival Radar.

The intended options are:

A. Monthly payout

Eligible available submission proceeds are paid to the participating festival according to a monthly payout schedule.

B. Final festival payout

Eligible available submission proceeds are consolidated and paid following the relevant festival edition or event.

The festival organiser may select their preferred payout option through the applicable Film Festival Radar configuration or agreement.

The selected payout option is subject to the technical, regulatory and fund-holding limits imposed by Stripe or the applicable payment provider.

Where a final festival payout would require funds to remain within a payment-provider balance longer than the period permitted by that provider or applicable law, Film Festival Radar may use an alternative compliant payout schedule, including monthly or interim payouts.

Film Festival Radar does not operate an escrow service.

Changing the payout frequency does not change the Film Festival Radar platform fee. The platform fee remains calculated transaction by transaction.

Payout availability remains subject to:

  • successful payment settlement;
  • payment-provider verification;
  • available balance;
  • refunds;
  • disputes;
  • chargebacks;
  • fraud or risk controls;
  • applicable reserves;
  • banking delays; and
  • applicable law.

12. First-year, new, unverified or higher-risk festivals

Film Festival Radar may apply enhanced verification or payout controls to:

  • first-year festivals;
  • newly established festivals;
  • insufficiently verified festivals;
  • festivals with significant unresolved complaints;
  • festivals presenting elevated payment risk; or
  • festivals where Film Festival Radar reasonably requires further evidence that the advertised event will take place.

Film Festival Radar may request evidence including:

  • organiser identity;
  • organisation details;
  • venue confirmation;
  • event dates;
  • contracts or booking evidence;
  • published programmes;
  • evidence of previous editions;
  • screening evidence; or
  • other reasonable verification material.

Where supported by Stripe or another applicable payment provider, Film Festival Radar may delay or restrict payouts where reasonably necessary for risk management, verification, refunds or disputes.

Any restriction remains subject to payment-provider and legal limits.

13. General refund policy

Submitting a film does not guarantee:

  • selection;
  • nomination;
  • screening;
  • an award;
  • feedback;
  • attendance;
  • distribution;
  • representation; or
  • any professional outcome.

Film Festival Radar does not provide an automatic refund simply because a filmmaker is dissatisfied with the outcome of a festival submission.

Unless required by law or otherwise expressly agreed, no refund is automatically due because:

  • a film is not selected;
  • a film is rejected;
  • a film is not nominated;
  • a film does not receive an award;
  • the filmmaker changes their mind;
  • the filmmaker voluntarily withdraws the film;
  • the filmmaker disagrees with a programming or judging decision; or
  • the submitted film does not comply with clearly disclosed festival eligibility rules.

Where a refund request is directed to Film Festival Radar, Film Festival Radar reserves the right to approve or decline any discretionary refund request after considering the circumstances.

Nothing in this section removes statutory rights or any refund or other remedy that Film Festival Radar is legally required to provide.

14. Complaints concerning a participating festival

Participating festivals are independent organisers and are responsible for delivering their own festivals, screenings, programmes, awards and other advertised festival services.

Complaints relating to the conduct or operation of a festival — including matters such as:

  • festival cancellation;
  • failure of an event to take place;
  • venue problems;
  • changes to programming;
  • selection or judging decisions;
  • screening arrangements;
  • awards;
  • prizes;
  • organiser communications;
  • festival rules; or
  • other festival-specific commitments

— are primarily matters between the filmmaker and the participating festival organiser.

Film Festival Radar does not act as an arbitrator, court, mediator, ombudsman or legal representative for either party and does not determine the legal merits of contractual disputes between filmmakers and participating festivals.

The parties remain responsible for resolving such disputes between themselves and for exercising any legal rights or remedies available to them.

Film Festival Radar is not required to provide compensation from its own funds for a participating festival's cancellation, failure to operate or breach of its obligations, except where Film Festival Radar itself has an independent legal obligation that cannot lawfully be excluded.

15. Film Festival Radar's role in complaints

Although Film Festival Radar does not adjudicate disputes between filmmakers and festivals, Film Festival Radar may take reasonable administrative or platform action where necessary.

This may include:

  • forwarding relevant communications;
  • providing transaction records;
  • providing submission confirmation;
  • suspending additional submissions;
  • restricting a festival account;
  • conducting platform-integrity checks;
  • responding to Stripe or payment-provider requirements;
  • responding to chargebacks or payment disputes;
  • preserving evidence;
  • cooperating with lawful requests from authorities; or
  • taking action required by applicable law.

Taking such action does not mean that Film Festival Radar accepts responsibility for the underlying festival dispute.

Film Festival Radar may decline to intervene in a dispute where the issue concerns matters for which the participating festival is responsible.

16. Festival cancellation or failure to operate

If a participating festival cancels, postpones, materially changes or fails to deliver its advertised event or submission opportunity, responsibility for resolving the resulting dispute with affected filmmakers rests primarily with the participating festival.

The festival organiser must communicate material changes to affected filmmakers and comply with its contractual and legal obligations.

Where a filmmaker considers that a festival owes them a refund or other remedy, the filmmaker should raise the matter with the festival organiser.

Film Festival Radar does not guarantee or underwrite the festival's financial obligations.

Film Festival Radar may nevertheless suspend new submissions or payouts, preserve relevant transaction information or take other administrative action where reasonably necessary to protect the platform, comply with law, prevent fraud, respond to Stripe requirements or deal with payment disputes.

17. Chargebacks and payment disputes

A submitter may have rights to dispute a payment through their bank, card issuer or payment provider.

Film Festival Radar does not determine whether a chargeback is legally justified.

Where a chargeback or payment dispute occurs, Film Festival Radar, Stripe and/or the participating festival may use and provide information reasonably necessary to investigate or respond to the dispute.

Relevant information may include:

  • submission confirmation;
  • festival rules;
  • payment details;
  • submission date;
  • application information;
  • communications; and
  • evidence concerning delivery of the submission service.

Where the payment structure permits, disputed, reversed or refunded amounts and applicable dispute fees may be deducted from the participating festival's balance or future proceeds.

18. Refund responsibility between festivals and filmmakers

Where a refund relates to the participating festival's actions, obligations, cancellation, event delivery or other festival-specific matters, the festival is primarily responsible for determining and satisfying its obligations to the filmmaker, subject to applicable law.

Film Festival Radar's role as a submission and payment-facilitation platform does not make Film Festival Radar responsible for funding refunds arising solely from the festival's breach, cancellation or failure to operate.

Nothing in these Terms prevents Stripe, a bank, a card issuer, a court, regulator or other competent authority from exercising powers available to it.

Nothing in these Terms excludes any legal responsibility of Film Festival Radar that cannot lawfully be excluded.

19. Festival organiser obligations

A festival receiving Native Submissions must:

  • act honestly and in good faith;
  • provide accurate festival information;
  • honour its published rules;
  • protect private screener information;
  • use filmmaker information only for legitimate festival purposes;
  • comply with applicable data-protection law;
  • comply with applicable consumer law;
  • comply with applicable intellectual-property law;
  • avoid misleading claims;
  • disclose material changes promptly;
  • respond appropriately to filmmaker complaints;
  • comply with applicable refund obligations;
  • cooperate with legitimate payment disputes;
  • cooperate with reasonable Film Festival Radar verification requests; and
  • maintain valid payment and contact information.

Festivals must not materially misrepresent:

  • event dates;
  • venues;
  • accreditation;
  • qualification status;
  • awards;
  • prizes;
  • trophies;
  • screening opportunities;
  • selection processes;
  • previous editions; or
  • organiser identity.

Film Festival Radar may restrict or remove Native Submission access where these requirements are materially breached.

20. Filmmaker obligations

A filmmaker using Native Submissions must:

  • provide accurate information;
  • submit only films they are authorised to submit;
  • comply with applicable festival eligibility rules;
  • not knowingly submit unlawful or infringing material;
  • not misuse payment systems;
  • not make knowingly fraudulent payment disputes; and
  • keep account information secure.

The filmmaker remains responsible for having the permissions and rights reasonably necessary to submit their film, including where applicable rights relating to copyright, music, performers and underlying works.

21. Selection decisions

Festival programming, judging, selection, nomination and award decisions belong to the participating festival.

Film Festival Radar does not control those decisions merely because the submission was processed through Film Festival Radar.

Film Festival Radar may nevertheless investigate credible allegations concerning:

  • fraud;
  • fake events;
  • materially misleading festival information;
  • misuse of filmmaker data;
  • improper access to private screeners;
  • payment abuse; or
  • serious breaches of Film Festival Radar rules.

22. Suspension of Native Submissions

Film Festival Radar may temporarily or permanently restrict a festival's ability to receive Native Submissions where reasonably necessary to protect users, the platform or payment systems.

Reasons may include:

  • suspected fraud;
  • materially misleading information;
  • failure to complete payment-provider verification;
  • significant unresolved complaints;
  • excessive disputes or chargebacks;
  • event cancellation;
  • suspected misuse of submitted films;
  • payment-provider requirements;
  • legal or regulatory concerns; or
  • material breach of these Terms.

Where appropriate, Film Festival Radar may provide the festival organiser with information regarding the reason for the restriction and corrective action required.

23. Taxes

Participating festivals are responsible for identifying, declaring and paying taxes applicable to their festival income except where Film Festival Radar, Stripe or another party is legally required to collect, report, withhold or remit those taxes.

Film Festival Radar remains responsible for taxes applicable to its own fees and income.

Nothing provided through Film Festival Radar constitutes personal tax advice.

24. Data protection

Native Submissions require Film Festival Radar to process filmmaker and festival information and to make relevant submission information available to the festival receiving the application.

Use of personal information is governed by the Film Festival Radar Privacy Policy and applicable data-protection law.

Participating festivals must use personal information received through Film Festival Radar only for lawful purposes connected with their festival or for another purpose for which they possess an appropriate lawful basis.

Participating festivals must not sell filmmaker personal information obtained through Native Submissions.

They must not use submission information for unrelated direct marketing unless they have an appropriate lawful basis or consent where required.

25. No guarantee of independent festival performance

Film Festival Radar provides discovery, trust, submission and payment-facilitation infrastructure.

A festival's access to Native Submissions, verification status, Trust Check information, ratings, reviews or other Film Festival Radar features does not constitute a guarantee of:

  • future festival performance;
  • financial solvency;
  • venue availability;
  • selection;
  • awards;
  • screenings;
  • attendance;
  • commercial success; or
  • any other professional result.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded.
